On the heels of the wildly successful Nite Owl single, Neighbour and Thinktank are blasting off again, this time to everyone’s favourite tibanna gas mining colony, Bespin. The next installment in their interstellar journey centres on Lando Calrissian, the hard-drinking, space-weed puffin’ administrator of Cloud City. Home to carbon freezing chambers, darkside double-crosses, weathervane cliffhangers, and a nightclub scene to rival anything else in the quadrant, the hovering city serves as a waypoint for bounty hunters and rebels looking to rest their weary hyperdrives. Are there still any girls reading? Didn’t think so.

Canada’s deep music production wunderkind comes back with a no-brainer EP of dancefloor-ready electronic disco music. This time, Neighbour and label cohort Cal Bass’ own vocals feature prominently, as do 80s drum machines and a generally sexy (though possibly just a bit creepy) aesthetic. The title track pulls garage synth chords, indie riffs, and an acid synth bass together with the timeless battle cry of “Disco is Back, and Boogie is Alive”. The ecstasy fuelled breakdown and subsequent synth and guitar solos are sure to get the blood pumping, as they have many times in the frosty Canadian winter.
Flip the record over (just kidding, its a digital-only release) and we’ve got Steppin to Me. A bassbin-ready disco loop boils underneath a savage analog boogie bassline and chicken-pickin’ guitar grooves, while another of Neighbour’s vocal snippets implores you to give him some of your “hot stuff”. Whatever that means.
