Wax Romeo‘s latest came out today via Bigfoot Records. The record is getting big time support from tons of nice gents, check the write up below, have a listen and take a look at what your favorite Djs have to say about this little jem. Check.

Wax Romeo – I Hope I Fall Down The Stairs by Bigfoot Records Canada

Beatport

Junodownload

50% spooky, 50% creepy, and 50% funky, Wax Romeo‘s “I Hope I Fall Down The Stairs” is a paranoid-groovy disco tune, with a definite “Peeping-Tom” vibe. Even if you’re not a pervert, it’s bound to get stuck in your head, and make you think about buying a ladder. Dan Solo, one half of the Canadian bass babes known as Piranha Piranha, come with a dark, stripped-down, and digital-sounding UK Funky dub. Baltimore club legend, Scottie B, does what he does so well, and takes it to clubland, with a frenzied club track that is as hard as it is weird. Lastly, the degenerate dance-commanders knows as the Smalltown DJs pull no punches with their remix; a no-nonsense, and frantically-paced whirlwind of snarly bass, and clubby drums. Celebrate!

Thee Mike B – “Amazing music and best title for a song ever.”

Nick Catchdubs -”fuck scottie b’s mix is so wild! others ain’t shabby either. (also best title in ages)”

Sammy Bananas – “”I Hope I Fall Down The Stairs” is devilishly fun and intoxicatingly bewildering.  It’s Hunter S. Thompson paranoia-wave with a dash of Terry Gilliam saran-wrap monster-step”

Ursula 1000 – “OG has got a sinister underbelly that I’m super digging!”

Toy Selectah – “Spooky ooky ooky! Like the funkyness of the original! scottie B remix works on a trippy teky break moment on a darky club!”

Ali B – “Dope!”

Tal M Klein – “Wax Romeo is among my favorite producers as well as personalities on the scene. He’s a fucking honeybadger. This track is sick. Full support!”

Mat the Alien – “big ep really good.”

Neighbour & Dave Allison EP Preview (Release date Jan 30th 2012) by Homebreakin Records

So I bet you are wondering how these lovely talented fellows met and how the release was born? No? Well you are getting the story anyway :)

The magic between the two happened a few years after a friend of Dave’s from Montreal introduced the two. Neighbour did a release for Dave’s Kinjo Label and to launch the EP Dave had Neighbour over to spin a night with him at his residency Salon Daome. During the stay Neighbour found out about someone having a record sale so naturally they went. They got to the loft, dug out some gems then hit up the studio. With Mr. fancy fingers Neighbs on synths and Dave twisting out some beats and scratching in some samples, the dancefloor stomper Kickin Action” was born.

Sometime later Dave came out to Calgary to Jam with Matt for a gig. funny night, as the power dropped out for 15 minutes in the club, but it resumed and they had a blast.
The next day they got into his studio and “wait a minute ” was the result – the original title was ‘what happened to the f-ing power’ . To round out the EP they both included individual tunes to make it a solid four tracker. Dave’s “Break da Computer” was done with his classic juno 106 and circuit bent speak & spell. Neighbour delivers a jamming low- fi deep number ‘You can do it’ perfect for all the slo-mo disco heads out there.

Joshua Heath – “Holy Testicles- what do they put in the water up in Canada?? I am starting to think that Neighbour is some kind of Japanese made Robot specially designed to churn out ridiculous jams. In all seriousness Homebreakin is one of the most consistent labels out there, and I will be hammering this release.”

DCUP – “Super dope lads!”

Cassian – “…I’m all about Summertime Girls, will be jamming this one a lot! ”

Tad Wily – “Summertime Girls!”

Funkanomics – “Summertime Holiday” is genius, will def be dropping this !!!”

Scratch Bastid – “I like Summertime Girls. Just like I like summertime girls.”

The Black Russian is a legend amongst most in the Kootenay’s and will forever impact the lives of the people who had the pleasure to know him and surround themselves with his outlook on living life to the fullest.

Homebreakin’s close friend, BLK RSN aka Josh Evin, was involved in a tragic accident last year that took his life. Josh was a great guy. We like great people. So Homebreakin decided that it was a good idea to get all of our close friends, ask them to produce a tune and create a serious crate of tunes that pay tribute to Josh. This compilation was assembled, arranged and mixed by Homebreakin artists in honour of Josh Evin.
